MEXC takes the top overall spot on raw value: 0% spot maker fees, the largest altcoin catalog of any major exchange (3,000+ coins) and optional no-KYC access. The trade-offs are no US access and a younger, unregulated track record.
Binance is the largest exchange by volume, with the deepest liquidity on majors and the broadest product suite. It costs more on spot (0.1% maker) and is banned in the US, but for everything-in-one-place trading it is hard to beat.
Coinbase is the most regulated mainstream exchange and the safest on-ramp for US users — SEC-registered and publicly listed. You pay for that trust with high fees (0.4%/0.6% spot) and a smaller coin list.
